Washington University in St. Louis criticized a decade ago for rock-bottom low-income enrollment says it has carved out spaces for economically disadvantaged students as part of a new plan to increase need-based aid.
The University has joined over 100 institutions and adopted a need-blind admission program, adopted a no-loan policy that will go into effect in fall 2024, and redoubled its “efforts to engage, support, and build pathways for students from small-town and rural America” through its Heartland Initiative.
Building on its support for first-generation and low-income students, Brown launched the Kessler Scholars Program this fall to expand resources, advising and community support throughout students’ undergraduate education.
