around. casualty units rushed to the mall on saturday afternoon and they were fearing the worst. i was originally called in as a collapse, something to do with the escalator. around 2:00 p.m. this afternoon, these escalators were crammed with passengers going to the rally for sanity and fear. suddenly this escalator stopped abruptly, sending a handful of passengers tumbling down to the level below. we got to the entrance between ninth and d southwest. we found there were injured people at the bottom of the escalator. it s pretty steep and long escalator. we did have some injuries. a couple were pretty serious and two serious injuries. reporter: four people were hospitalized. while the extent of their injuries is not clear, they are not life-threatening. i m concerned with the persons that were injured. i think it s sad, because this is a major area for metro. reporter: metro officials have not said what caused the escalator to stop and suddenly accelerate at ....
