now from abc 7, live breaking news. the early indications, the initial indications is this was an intentional act. breaking news, an explosion rocks the streets of new york city, officials there on high alert as they try to determine what happened exactly. i m eric thomas, the incident happened about five hours ago in the city s chelsea neighborhood. 26 people were injured, one seriously, make that 29. crews are looking at possible device. live from the news room. lisa? reporter: eric, a scary night for new yorkers as the authorities now investigate the discovery of what may be a second explosive device a few blocks away from the original explosion site. the mayor explaining tonight, new yorkers will not be intimidated. the explosion rocked the area. it shook the ground and everyone ran out of the restaurants and the street, the whole city was in the street. and we heard a loud boom, you re in the city so we re used to a lot of loud noises but all of us had the feel
video protesters have been calling for. but does it show us if officers were justified in the fatal shooting of a black man? good evening. i m eric thomas. the video appears to raise more questions than answers. police have been under heavy pressure to release the video. this one following several nights of protests. reporter: in this dash cam video the frantic final moments of the fatal standoff as recorded by police. keith lamont scott is seen exiting backwards, his hands down, and then [ gunshots ] reporter: this is another perspective. an officer wields a baton to get scott out of his vehicle. scott is seen standing in the parking lot. then the 43-year-old is seen mortally wounded as police advance with guns drawn. officers appear to administer first aid. hold the wound. reporter: police confirmed this gun pictured at the scene is the gun they say they recovered from scott. based on the totality of what we see, he was in possession of a handgun. reporter: poli
crews say that the unidentified man was in the water just off oyster point in south san francisco. rescuers are searching from candlestick point to the san mateo bridge. that s foster city. right now we are confident that we have a lot of resources out there. we have a lot of well-trained folks with good technology so we are hoping for a good outcome. emergency crews have not shared many details about the kayaker yet, and it s not clear how long they plan to keep up the search. san jose police are looking for a stabbing suspect. they were near silicon valley boulevard and highway 101. investigators searched for evidence last night. officers said a bleeding man stumbled into a hotel parking lot. he is expected to survive after being stabbed several times. his attacker ran away before police arrived. nine people are without homes this morning after the fire destroyed four apartments. we have the details on the quick response yesterday afternoon by emergency crews. rep

to the first congregational church in berkeley. it s probably going to stay closed for days. damon street which is in front of the church and perpendicular to where we are now just reopened. and the people here are still recovering from their loss but say they will use this fire as a way to prove they re resilient. the pews are empty and the hymn books contain words that will go unsung here this weekend. but this place of worship remains standing and she says her congregation is staying strong. i m thinking this is going to be a lot of work. but i m thinking we can do hard things. our congregation. reporter: the sanctuary and chapel survived yesterday s fire thanks to firefighters who crawled on a catwalk that s between this ceiling and the roof. this water damage is now causing part of the ceiling to fall off in chunks. it s a sad story for the building they call pilgrim hall that served as the congregation s office space, library, thrift store and sunday school classes.
