Retiring Brockton cop facing DUI charge in Florida after traffic stop 
A Brockton police officer, who is now living in Florida while his retirement is pending, was arrested last week and charged with drunken driving. Police said he responded to his arrest with a profanity-laced tirade. Mark R. Reardon, 57, was arrested in Marco Island, Florida, on April 22 following an early morning motor vehicle stop.  Reardon, who was promoted to temporary sergeant in December 2018 and had been with the Brockton Police Department since September 1988, was not actively working for the department. “Officer Reardon is a Florida resident pending retirement and is no longer an active Brockton police officer,” Police Chief Emanuel Gomes said.   ....

Brockton Kenny's Karate School: Kenneth Garcia teaches martial arts


BROCKTON  Kenneth Garcia, 49, was shot in the head during an invasion of his home at 19-years-old, causing a dramatic shift, leading him to leave the street life behind him and open a dojo in Brockton to teach students discipline through martial arts. 
Kenny s Karate School, located on the second floor of 60 Skinner St. offers karate and cardio-kickboxing to kids and adults. The classes teach patience, respect and integrity as well as the basics of defending yourself. 
Surviving that moment and being in the hospital for weeks put in perspective that today could ve been my last day on earth, and I wouldn t have time to change my life around. It pushed me to do better, and karate for some reason was my way out, Garcia said. ....
