Schools among Kane County had the 16th highest truancy rate of 19.8% during the 2021-2022 school year, according to the Illinois State Board of Education report.
The 2022 Illinois School Report Card released Thursday designated 90 of 98 eligible schools across McHenry and Kane counties as "commendable." Adding more teaching staff is one way schools have responded to the learning loss and emotional issues arising from the pandemic.
