While as you mentioned nobody was hurt here an officer did fire off one round from his gun. This all played out. It happened in the northeast. Philadelphia police tell us they first tracked down one of our suspects. An officer had the description from a carjacking that was on bustleton avenue. Two men robbed a Security Guard there. They showed up in a stolen hyundai suv. One of the suspects stayed in the hyundai and took off after robbing the guard. The other stole the security gar guards camry. The officer spotted the camry and the suspect driving the car got out, pointed his gun and thats when the officer fired off a round. The officer certainly has a right and duty to defend himself and anyone else present in these type of exchanges or encounters.
