It was originally a small outlet store representing the local factories in the area. In 1953, Don Castor bought the business, then on Ohio 40. In 1967, it was relocated to face the newly built Interstate 70. Kim Castor, Don’s son, now runs the operation. “My interest was not in pottery as much as it was in the business,” he said. “Pottery just happened to be the commodity I grew up with and was working in, so I learned everything I could about the entire process, even taking art and ceramic classes in college to understand the production.” ....
ZANESVILLE – Kelly Wiler is, well, an ambassador – for art. “I’m very passionate for art and the entire art world,” explained the artist, art teacher and owner of Girl UPcycled Studio. “My goal,” she said, “is to spark creativity in every person that walks in the studio or sees a video on YouTube or Facebook. I hope they’re filled with courage to pick up a brush and know the world needs their creative voice to be heard. “I want them to know this is a safe place, that they’re cheered on as they create.” she added. “I want them filled with fire inside. I also want to help put the spotlight on other artists, makers and creators in our area and see them thrive as well. I often feature other local artists within the studio and on my social sites.” ....
