The state Department of Transportation will be conducting road work this week that will result in lane closures at various locations. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.
The Maui County Department of Water Supply has advised some Upper Kula residents and businesses to boil their tap water before consumption after detecting trace amounts of E. coli.
The Department of Water Supply has lifted a boil water advisory for some Upcountry areas as department personnel continue water sample testing and flushing and clearing waterlines.
The Upcountry event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 11, at the Mayor Hannibal Tavares Community Center in Pukalani. The Kīhei event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12, at the Kīhei Community Center.
The information will help the Maui Emergency Management Agency to complete a damage assessment for the Hawaiʻi Emergency Management Agency to determine if the state of Hawaiʻi warrants a Presidential Emergency Declaration of Emergency. Such a declaration is needed to receive Federal assistance to supplement State and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by the recent severe weather and flooding.
