The Salvation Army Hawaiian & Pacific Islands Division is holding assistance events Dec. 29 for residents on Maui, Oʻahu and the Big Island affected by the recent flooding and heavy rains.
The Upcountry event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 11, at the Mayor Hannibal Tavares Community Center in Pukalani. The Kīhei event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12, at the Kīhei Community Center.
Below are storm photos from what the National Weather Service reported as Maui County’s “heaviest rainfall.” The rainfall was expected to cause “catastrophic flooding and affect areas that do not usually flood.”
