CUMBERLAND — Allegany County officials say layoffs at the Department of Emergency Services will happen unless a labor union agrees to their terms, and time is running out to negotiate.
"The lack of manpower is an emergent issue for the safety of our members and the community as a whole," said the head of Allegany County Sheriff s Fraternal Order of Police Lodge.

KEYSER, W.Va. â What began as an effort to collect gift cards for Mineral Countyâs industrious and caring health care workers during the holiday season has evolved into a Facebook group where residents coordinate cards, meals and more, organizers say.
