The recent conviction of a man considered the ringleader of a cocaine and heroin trafficking network means only one person accused of a role in the significant drug ring has yet to be convicted.
Eleven people have been convicted since the police dismantling of the drug trafficking ring in January 2018. Twelve were charged.
A federal jury recently convicted Carlos Javier Figueroa, a 43-year-old Rochester man, of narcotics conspiracy, possession and discharge of firearms in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, and murder while engaged in narcotics conspiracy. He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of at least 30 years and is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 7.
