Seven Kashmiri students were arrested and booked under the stringent Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) for allegedly celebrating Team India's loss in World Cup 2023 final. The development has sparked a political controversy in the UT.
Those arrested are from the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST). They have been booked under various sections of the UAPA and the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
No person was ready to be the guarantor for their surety even as they got bail on March 30 in a case related to celebrating Pakistan’s win in a cricket match.
