Woman, son die as heavy rain wreaks havoc in capital By News Desk ISLAMABAD: A woman and her 8-year-old son were killed in the federal capital on Wednesday as heavy rainfall played havoc in E-11 and D-12 and many areas of Rawalpindi on Wednesday due to cloudburst. Several areas of Islamabad experienced flooding which multiplied miseries for the residents of the area. According to reports, the woman and her son drowned when rainwater entered the basement of their house. Their dead bodies were later shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS). The incident happened at about 6: am while rescue teams reached the site at about 11:00 am. While, her two children – a daughter, 13 and 5-year-old son were rescued by the young group of the area. ....
Cloudburst triggers deluge in ICT Two dead as several low-lying areas inundated ISLAMABAD: A devastating cloudburst in Islamabad claimed the lives of a woman and her son as the rainwater deluged different sectors of the federal capital on Wednesday. The low-lying areas of Sectors D-12, E-11, Rawal Dam Chowk, Korang Nullah, Margalla Road near Saidpur, Seventh and Ninth Avenue were inundated due to overnight torrential rains. The wife of Kashif Yaseen and his seven-year-old son Mustafa died after water accumulated in the basement of a house in Sector E-11/2. Islamabad Commissioner Aamir Ali Ahmed had directed the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI), Capital Development Authority (CDA) and MPO department to start a rescue operation at the earliest when the disaster occurred. ....
