El Dorado’s volleyball season has wound down. The Lady Wildcats went into Tuesday’s match at Lake Hamilton with a 2-13 overall record. They will play their final home game Thursday against White Hall before the season-ending match at Sheridan next Tuesday.
El Dorado hopes to ride some momentum into the 5A South volleyball season after beating Camden Fairview 3-1 in non-conference action Monday at Wildcat Arena. The Lady Wildcats won 13-25, 25-19, 25-23, 25-20 and will travel to Hot Springs Lakeside on Tuesday.
El Dorado volleyball coach Amber Cunningham started her second season as head coach with the Purple-White scrimmage on Thursday. All of the players from grades 7-12 got to display their skills in front of a nice crowd at Wildcat Arena.
“It went really good. We had a good turnout, a lot of parents and even students came out to support,” Cunningham said. “It gave me a chance to see what we still need to work on, but it also gave, especially my seventh graders, it got them used to having a crowd and playing in front of people.”
The Lady Wildcats open the season for real on Monday at Magnolia. They host Little Rock Hall on Tuesday and will travel to Little Rock Southwest on Thursday.
El Dorado’s volleyball program returned from the dead period last week in preparation for its second season under Coach Amber Reynolds. The Lady Wildcats, who snapped a two-year losing skid last year, had 29 athletes out for varsity and JV from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Wildcat Arena.
