And im diane dwyer. We begin with another bay area politician facing legal problems. In this case it is not new for him. George shirakawa was a santa clara supervisor. He pleaded guilty to 12 charges last year. This week he was let out of jail only to be facing more charges. Reporter George Shirakawa is already on probation on one case while the other is pending. The other president of the county board of supervisors was released from jail after serving seven months and one day of a one year term of perjury. A jury indicted shirakawa last october on a felony charge of false impersonation. He has pleaded not guilty to charges he imperson ated someone in a mailer meant to discredit a political rival. Nbc bay area legal analyst says shirakawas felony conviction could effect the outcome of this on going case. What makes this case especially challenging for George Shirakawa is he is coming into it as a convicted felon. Because of that if he takes the stand in his own defense those felonies
