Assistant chief shaken after robbery, loses over Sh100,000

[Muriithi Mugo, Standard] Kamiu Sub-Location assistant chief Mr Samuel Mugo is counting losses after he lost over Sh100,000 to robbers who broke into his shop Mugo, an assistant chief in Embu West Sub-county, said he learned of the burglary that occurred overnight when he reported to work in the morning. I closed the shop last night at around 9pm and found the door ajar at around 6:30am. On conducting a search, I discovered some items were missing, including 12 gas cylinders, scratch cards, assorted goods, and Sh40,000 in cash, said Mugo.

[Muriithi Mugo,Standard] A suspected motorbike thief narrowly escaped death after he was cornered and beaten up by boda boda operators outside Huduma Centre in Embu Town. The public joined the boda boda operators to stone the man and burn him.  By the time police arrived at the scene, the man was unconscious, making the officers to believe he was dead. The police had picked the man’s “body” to take it to the mortuary when he started moving his limbs.

THE STANDARD EASTERN Residents crowd the scene where a suspected thief was stoned before police arrived and rescued him from burning. The police had thought he was dead before he made some movements. Tuesday April 13. [Muriithi Mugo, Standard] Boda boda operators have stoned a suspected motorbike thief and set his body ablaze outside Huduma Centre in Embu town. Police officers who rushed to the scene thought the suspect had died and were in the process of picking the body to take to mortuary when he made some movements. They immediately rushed the suspect to Embu Teaching and Referral Hospital where he is being treated for serious head injuries and burns on his hands and chest.
