The e-auction of mementos and gifts given to Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been receiving a positive response, according to Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi. The auction, which aims to raise funds for the Namami Gange Programme, has items such as a statue of Ram Darbar, a model of the Golden Temple, and a souvenir of Jerusalem. UGC Proposes ‘Cow Science’ Exam On Feb 25, Asks VCs To Promote Feb 18, 2021, 10:40 IST New Delhi: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has asked all universities across India to “encourage” their students to take the ‘Kamdhenu Gau Vigyan Prachar-Prasar Examination’, a national-level exam being planned to test people’s knowledge of ‘gau vigyan’ or ‘cow science’. The commission has also asked for wider dissemination of information regarding the exam. The University Grants Commission has asked Vice-Chancellors of varsities across the country to encourage students to take an online voluntary national-level exam to test their knowledge on Gau Vigyan (Cow Science). The Kamdhenu Gau Vigyan Prachar-Prasar Examination , for which there is no registration fee, will be conducted online on 25 February. And will be open to students studying in primary, secondary, and senior secondary schools, and even colleges. ....

BENGALURU: The Breakthrough Science Society, a collective of scientists and researchers, reiterated that the Rashtriya Kamdhenu Aayog’s claim about a chip made from Indian cow dung stopping harmful radiation of mobile phones is unscientific. It said the experiment to show the chip’s scientific credentials is flawed. In October, the chairperson of the RKA, claimed the chip’s ability to prevent harmful radiation was scientifically proven. Over 600 scientists signed an open letter protesting what they termed “propagation of pseudoscience”. The letter was sent to RKA chairperson Vallabhbhai Kathiria on October 18. The scientists now received a response from Kathiria which they term “comical”. A BSS statement said that along with the reply, Kathiria also sent a letter from the head of the physics department of Saurashtra University, Prof Mihir Joshi, certifying the analysis of the cow dung chip.
