Here we are in the midst of sorting through another close election. We asked you because youve been covering this Supreme Court since 1986 to come back and look back in time with us at that 2000 election. What we were going through then as comparison to whats happening now and also some of the lessons that were learned. Lets start with the court itself in 2000. Nine members of the court and seven of them have been appointed by republican president s. But how do they align id logically . David its sort of a 54 conservative court. Rehnquist was a leader. Justice scalia was a leader of that court. Ohn stephens, david sutter and Ruth Ginsburg and steven briar, on the left. So it leaned conservative. The cause is not a lack of judicial imagination or a lack of claims that the particular map before the court was the most extreme ever. Rather, the root cause of this failure is the basic decision of the framers to give responsibility for congressional districting to political actors. Videos are actually really a unique way to spread antibullying because you know, its not directly breaking up a fight between a bully and a victim. You know, you can make a video and you post it on the internet and you dont know whos gonna see it or whos going to take something away from it. You could be changing a bullies mind or you could be helping a victim, you never know, so we think its very unique, and its a safe way to stand up to bullying.
