Five people jailed for breaking COVID restrictions

Five people have been jailed for breaking COVID-19 restrictions over the weekend. Police say one person was sent to prison after being charged on Saturday and four people appeared before the court today and were jailed. The force confirmed two males were sent to Jurby Prison after the car they were travelling in crashed on the Mountain Road. Two other separate matters involved a male and a female not being at their home addresses and visiting other residential premises. One involved a male who was out in the public domain and was suspected of stealing.
He was carrying the backpack he wore on his four-hour jet ski journey from the Isle of Whithorn, Scotland across the Irish Sea on December 11.
Mum of two Jessica, who is selfisolating, had called for him to be freed from a 28-day sentence for Christmas.
She said yesterday: He s on his way home. I meant it when I said I d marry him if he asked me. Anyone who is prepared to cross an ocean to see you has got to be serious.
The healthcare worker added, jokingly: Mind you, I don t think I d be prepared to do the same for him!
