Casanova woman faces DUI, child neglect charges
Sheriffâs deputies arrested Gail Edmonds on Monday near Calverton. A Casanova woman faces criminal charges after her vehicle hit a deputyâs cruiser as she attempted to flee Monday, according to the Fauquier County Sheriffâs Office.
âDeputies responded to the 9400 block of Bastable Mill Road (near Calverton) for an overdose call,â Sgt. Steve Lewis said.
Gail Edmonds, 55, âwas attempting to drive, off striking a deputyâs patrol vehicle, causing damage to it,â Sgt. Lewis wrote in a press release. âDuring the traffic crash, Edmonds had her 3-year-old child in the vehicle. No one was injured during the crash. The victim of the overdose was treated at the scene by rescue and transported to Fauquier Hospital.â
A librarian from Portland will compete on ‘Jeopardy!’ Tuesday

Another Portlander will compete on the Tuesday, May 11 episode of “Jeopardy!” Lara Phillips, a librarian, will take on the challenge of putting answers in the form of a question. Phillips’ fellow players will be returning champion Juliet Mayer, a graduate student originally from The Plains, Virginia. Mayer’s previous two-day winnings total is $53,200. Also competing will be Jeff Mitchum, a teacher from Dixon, California.
