A simple blue envelope is intended to head off misunderstanding and negative interactions between police and people with autism when they are pulled over on the road.
Launched in January 2020 and available at many police departments and state Department of Motor Vehicles offices, the envelopes may not be as well known as they would have been if the COVID-19 pandemic had not hit two months later. Around the state, police departments have varied experience with the envelopes and training in them, and a push is on to share information about the envelopes and how they are used. ....

Autism Services and Resources Connecticut (ASRC), the first exclusive Connecticut autism advocacy organization for individuals and families, will hold the 24th Annual Walk and Festival for Autism on May 23 at the North Haven Fairgrounds located at 290 Washington Avenue, North Haven. The event will include a short walk with three staggered start times, food trucks, a classic car show, a raffle and other socially distanced entertainment. The in-person event will follow local and federal COVID-19 protocols, ensuring the safety of all involved.

Last year we held a virtual event and it was not the same, said ASRC Board President Julie Hipp. Some of our teams have been walking for 10, 15, even 20 years. They have become a family. We are making sure to follow all COVID-19 guidelines to ensure all participants are safe to give our families a day out they so desperately deserve after the past year. ....
