i am told that a solo female officer responded to a call this morning of a reported dispute and assault at about 8:30 this morning. when she arrived, police say the suspect attacked her with a metal object. sources tell us that object was some kind of chain, perhaps a bicycle chain. the officer was reportedly hit in the head and face. when she fired her again at the affect, fatally striking him. i m told the suspect s body has removed about the coroner and the officer is being treated at highland hospital for injuries to her face and her head. we are told that her injuries are serious, but she is going to recover. the police chief, shawn wendt has been at the hospital this morning as has oakland s mayor we are told that she is going to be okay. we also understand that/have been a number of people upset. there s guys here with a sign saying stop police terror. the scene was described earlier as pretty volatile. i m told reporters are now being let into the scene to get a close
