Badminton World Federation (BWF) and Badminton Association of Thailand (BAT) can confirm three of the four players who tested positive for COVID-19 earlier today at the Asian Leg of the HSBC BWF World Tour have been cleared to take their place in the draw.
They are confirmed as Saina Nehwal (India), HS Prannoy (India), and Jones Ralfy Jansen (Germany).
The fourth player, Adham Hatem Elgamal from Egypt, has been withdrawn.
Nehwal and Prannoy were earlier taken to hospital while Jansen and Elgamal self-quarantined in the hotel. Nehwal’s husband Kashyap Parupalli was also asked to self-quarantine due to the married couple sharing a room. ....

In a dramatic chain of events on Tuesday, ace Indian shuttlers Saina Nehwal, Parupalli Kashyap, and HS Prannoy were cleared to compete in the Thailand Open Super 1000 badminton tournament, just hours after they were forced to withdraw having tested positive for Coronavirus.
The Badminton World Federation (BWF) announced later on Tuesday that Saina and Prannoy could compete, the Badminton Association of India (BAI) said that Kashyap s participation will depend on the result of his test , conducted on Tuesday afternoon. ....

A series of positive coronavirus tests caused disruption to the first day of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Yonex Thailand Open, with Olympic bronze medallist Saina Nehwal among those impacted - only to later be cleared to play following further testing.
There was also a shock exit for women s singles world champion PV Sindhu on an eventful day for the Indian badminton team in Bangkok.
A third round of mandatory testing was conducted yesterday, with Nehwal, compatriot HS Prannoy, Jones Ralfy Jansen of Germany and Adham Hatem Elgamal of Egypt all testing positive.
