JOHNSTOWN The city Water Department would be adding seven new employees at a $275,000 price tag including a new superintendent under the department’s 2021 operating budget approved recently by the city Water Board.
But city government is saying not so fast, as the water budget is part of the city budget which is still unapproved and being scrutinized.
“The Water Department is a city department,” Mayor Vern Jackson said Wednesday.
On the water budget, he added, “This is not over.”
Jackson noted the Water Department’s proposed budget is part of the city’s overall $13.6 million tentative budget that hasn’t been adopted yet by the Common Council. At a council meeting Monday night at City Hall, council members barely discussed the water budget. ....
