NUMBER OF ACTIVE CASES OF COVID-19 CONTINUE TO DROP


-SALINE
As of January 2, 2021, the Saline County Health Department had confirmed 2,225 cases of the virus. With 2,052 cases currently inactive and 44 deaths, 129 cases remain active.
-CARROLL
As of December 30, the Carroll County Health Department had confirmed 807 total cases of the virus. With 750 cases released from public health isolation and 22 deaths, 35 cases remain active.
-CHARITON
More cases of recoveries than new cases were reported in Chariton County on Saturday. According to the Chariton County Health Center, three new cases were reported and seven cases were released from public health isolation. This makes a total of 672 COVID-19 cases in Chariton County. With 584 of those cases released from public health isolation, and 15 deaths, 73 cases remain active. ....

JCCHS, WMMC & UCM Work Together to Vaccinate Johnson County
Johnson County Community Health Services received their first shipment of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine late last week and with the help of the University of Central Missouri and Western Missouri Medical Center started vaccinating healthcare workers in the County.
JCCHS provided Western Missouri Medical Center with the vaccine, and they started offering it to their front line healthcare workers.
According to a Facebook post, long time Johnson County physician Dr. Bradford Carper received the vaccine because he believes in protecting his patients. Nurse Practitioner Jacki Addington received the vaccine to reduce exposure to her family, as well as her patients at Family Healthcare – Concordia. And paramedic Sara McIntyre got the vaccine because she helps 20 emergency room patients a day. ....

The State of Missouri, Pettis County Health Center, and Johnson County Community Health Services have all released some information on distribution of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine that both counties have received.
In the Pettis County COVID-19 Task Force Briefing, Pettis County Health Center takes a cautiously optimistic tone that the vaccine is an important step toward ending the pandemic and the changes that the pandemic has caused for our community.
Phase 1-B: Emergency response and essential workers.
Phase 2: Additional Phase-1 populations if not vaccinated in Phase 1, high risk populations and potentially all Missouri residents (as availability increases). ....

JOHNSON COUNTY, Mo. — Health officials in rural areas of Missouri and Kansas are figuring out how to distribute the COVID-19 vaccine to the general public when it s widely available.
Kerri Lewis, community outreach coordinator for Johnson County Community Health Services, said the agency is still very much in the planning process and needs more details before finalizing a plan.
We will definitely make it as available as we possibly can in our county and in different locations to make sure that we are bringing it to as many people as we can, Lewis said. ....

Johnson County Keeps 14 Day COVID-19 Quarantine
Johnson County Community Health recently announced the County will be keeping the 14 day Quarantine for persons who might have been exposed to COVID-19. As opposed to adopting a shorter quarantine time which the Centers for Disease Control says may be permissible in some communities to reduce the time people have to miss work, and lessen the stress on our public health system.
In a Facebook post Johnson County Community Health points out that the CDC still strongly recommends a 14 day quarantine. Additionally JCCHS says that the Department of Health and Senior Services in Missouri recommends shorter quarantine restriction for communities within a County Action Plan Level 3 status or better. ....
