On Dec. 18 Senator Travis Hutson, Representative Cyndi Stevenson and Representative Paul Renner presented a State of Florida Proclamation to Dr. Joyner on the occasion of his retirement. The St. Johns County Legislative Delegation recognized his contributions to the St. Johns County community.
Masks were only removed momentarily to allow for a photo to be taken.

Steady funding needed for intensive mental health care in St. Johns

Earlier this year I spoke to both St. Johns County and St. Augustine City Commissioners regarding funding for the Florida Assertive Community Treatment Team, known as FACT.
As a parent of a son disabled with schizophrenia, I outlined the merits of this critically important program.
To the credit of both commissions, letters were sent to the governor and legislators requesting continuance of funding.
The commissioner s efforts, and the efforts of our legislators, paid off as funding was retained in a very competitive fiscal environment.
To our local legislative delegation, I am addressing the non-recurrent funding aspect of this program. ....

St. Johns County Legislative Delegation hears slew of requests

With the impacts of COVID-19 bearing down on the state budget and upcoming legislative session, some people who approached St. Johns County s Legislative Delegation kept their requests modest ― asking for funding for critical efforts at the same level, nothing new.
Still, more than 40 speakers from elected bodies, schools and higher-learning institutions, nonprofits, community groups and other organizations spoke to the delegation at Friday s meeting at the St. Johns County government auditorium at 500 San Sebastian View in St. Augustine.
Major topics included getting recurring funding for mental health services in St. Johns County and keeping public schools at the current level of funding. ....
