Reviewing the Bold Predictions is always a fun time of the year. Sure, it’s great when you hit some homers, but I know a lot of you enjoy looking back at… ....
On this date 80 years ago, May 15th, 1941, the Chicago White Sox visited Yankee Stadium. The Pale Hose put a beating on the home team, drubbing the Bombers 13-1. The loss marked the fifth straight for the Yanks, dropped them below .500, and put them 6.5 games out of first place. Lost in the wash: a single by Joe DiMaggio that plated New York’s only run. Last ditch trade idea Yankees get (37.5): Jonathan Loaisiga RHP (6.7) - A bullpen/swingman arm Roansy Contreras RHP (4.8)- Yankees #19 prospect Michael King RHP (2.8) - Flexible MLB ready arm The flexible parts in this trade would be Johnny Lasagna, Contreras, and King. The Yankees have about 30 or 40 prospects that fall in the same value range that can be pieced together to fill in this trade. I would even add an extra player to the Cubs haul if needed up to a 3.0 value This obviously would add a net $12M to the Yankees ridiculous cap figure. Maybe Ottavino $9M goes to the Braves in place of Loasiga and the Yankees take back Josh Tomlin $1.25M. The trade would only net the Yankees a $4.25M increase in payroll if that change was made, which would keep them below their precious $210. ....
