high number of cases. just this morning, organizers announced they will cancel the new york city marathon, the world s largest marathon because of the pandemic. for those keeping an eye on sports news, baseball is coming back. the major league baseball players association says it has a deal with mlb, with the league and they will have a shorter season starting in late july. right now in arizona and texas, the number of coronavirus cases and hospital admissions right now are hitting new highs. arizona just reported nearly 3,600 new cases. that is a record increase, around 84% of the icu beds in the state are now occupied. in texas, that state just hit an all-time high in new coronavirus cases as well. more than 5,500 in a single day. even more concerning, hospitalizations have broken records for a second week in a row. we have our team of reporters standing by in both of these states. nbc s joe fryer is in scottsdale, arizona, nbc s priscilla thompson is in houston. joe, let
