Ohio Democrat Nina Turner pulled in nearly $1.6 million for her congressional campaign in the first quarter of 2021, giving her a massive fundraising advantage over her rivals in the primary for Housing and Urban Development Secretary Marcia Fudge
Turner’s first-quarter fundraising haul means that she has raised more than $2.2 million since she launched her House bid in early December. Senate confirms Rep. Marcia Fudge as President Biden’s Housing and Urban Development Secretary
Sabrina Eaton, cleveland.com
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Senate on Wednesday voted to confirm Ohio’s Rep. Marcia Fudge as President Joe Biden’s Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Secretary in a 66 to 34 vote. The Warrensville Heights Democrat will be the first woman to lead HUD in more than 40 years and the second Black woman in history to lead the department.
As HUD Secretary, Fudge has pledged to help make the dream of homeownership a reality for more Americans by ending discriminatory practices in the housing market, and ensure that fair housing rules open the door for families, “especially families of color who have been systematically kept out in the cold across generations, to buy homes and punch their ticket to the middle class.” ....

But progressives are keeping close tabs. And they are
aggressively contesting the races in an effort to stop establishment-oriented Democrats from claiming the offices. The elections come at a critical time on the Hill, as lawmakers debate top liberal priorities such as a $15 minimum wage, student loan debt forgiveness and police reform. ....

Brown has been an announced Democratic candidate for Congress for more than two months, yet she has failed to step down from her party post, instead using the position to advance her candidacy. The editorial board cries foul regarding this abuse of her position, calling on Brown in an editorial today to step down as Cuyahoga County Democratic Party chair immediately.
