Breaking News | Crime Anambra man uses shovel to kill wife, child

The police in Anambra has arrested a 28-year -old man, Chukwuemeka Obijofa, for allegedly killing his wife and four-year-old child in Ofufe Nza village in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of the state.
It was gathered that the suspect reportedly attacked his wife, Chisom and his child, Amanda on their heads with a shovel. He also reportedly injured a vigilante member who tried to rescue the victims.
The Anambra State Police spokesperson, Haruna Mohammed, who confirmed the incident, said the suspect has been arrested while the corpses have been deposited at the hospital’s morgue after being certified dead by the doctor. ....

A 28-year-old man, Chukwuemeka Obijiofor has allegedly killed his wife and only child in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State.
It was gathered that the man who allegedly ran amok, clubbed the victims to death with a shovel.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Mohammed, said the incident happened on Tuesday
Mohammed said, “On Tuesday at about 7.45pm, police operatives attached to Ozubulu Police Station arrested one Chukwuemeka Obijiofor aged 28 years, of Ofufe Nza village in Ekwusigo LGA of Anambra State.
“Suspect allegedly ran amok in circumstances yet to be ascertained and attacked his wife, one Chisom Chukwuemeka, aged 26 years, and own child, Amanda Chukwuemeka, aged 4 years, both of same address, with a shovel on their heads. ....

Crisis looms as one kingdom gets two monarchs in Anambra

Iloduba emerged winner in the closely contested traditional rulership poll held at Aguluzigbo town hall amidst tight security, after pulling 810 votes to defeat Asouzu, who garnered 113 votes.
The Chairman of the electoral committee, Hon. Uche Egbebuike, disclosed that the election which started at 9am and ended by 1pm on Friday had a total of 2552 registered voters from across six villages, with 963 accredited, 923 valid votes and 40 voided votes.
However, Asouzu and his teaming supporters described the election as a kangaroo and full of irregularities and refused to accept the outcome.
He said he would consult with his people to find out the next line of action. ....

Two feared dead, vehicles burnt in Anambra communal clash

Two persons were on Saturday reportedly killed in a fresh Aguleri/ Umueri communal conflict in the Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State.
A house and five vehicles were also burnt in the mayhem while some were reportedly wounded.
The two communities had between 1998 and 1999 waged war against each other during which many people were killed and property destroyed.
An eyewitness, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told our correspondent that the crisis erupted on Saturday morning over a land dispute. He said, “Two persons were killed in the clash today (Saturday).”
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Haruna Mohammed, said vehicles and a house were burnt in the crisis. It added that the situation had been brought under control and investigation commenced to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident. ....

The Non Aligned Democracy Monitor has condemned the alleged biased opinion taken against the Speaker Kaduna State Assembly by the APC Chairman of seven local government areas in Kaduna Central.
