CNNW Erin Burnett OutFront January 25, 2020

On capitol hill. Phil, you were there in the chamber today in the time where reporters are able to watch and observe. Youve been talking to senators throughout the day during the breaks. What are you seeing and hearing . I think one of the interesting elements now is people are looking forward, not that theyre looking past the presentations. But theres an understanding theres a big vote coming up. That will be the vote after the presentations as to whether or not the senate will proceed to consider subpoenas for witnesses and documents. What youve seen over the course of the last four or five days is republicans led by Senate Majority leader really kind of get behind the idea that any subpoenas would be problematic on executive privilege grounds, if youre going after the president s top advisers, former top advisers, it would not only elongate the trial but raise precedent issues. I think whats interesting is you have seen democr ....

MSNBCW Andrea Mitchell Reports January 16, 2020

Any Senior Administration officials past or present from participating. So moving forward as they approach the senate trial, we know so far a few of the people who will be on the team. White House Council will be leading the president s defense team. He is really going to be one of the key people who will be arguing. You will hear from them on a daily basis throughout the course of this trial. Then jay sekulow. Hes the president s personal attorney. Remember, jay sekulow has been with him throughout the Mueller Investigation and so this is someone who the president relies on and who feels as though hes a fighter, someone who he can win with. We know that two of the deputies will be on the team. Here are the key questions that remain unanswered. Will the president be bringing on gop lawmakers to his legal tea ....

This is somewhat standard. The decision was made that these articles would be exhibited today at this hour. So there was no need to actually leave the articles themselves in the senate chamber. Frankly, the articles needed to be read by the managers, so it makes sense under these circumstances the message having been delivered that the articles had been adopted, the senate saying, pursuant to its rules, well let you know when we want you to exhibit these, which they did. It makes sense for the managers to take the articles, take them back, hold onto them, not lose them, which would be a bad thing. Then they would have nothing to read on the floor of the senate. I dont think we should lose sight of the history of what were about to see. Yes, its very carefully staged and choreographed. As alex was pointing out, all sorts of specific details, but this is only the third time in American History well see this unfold. Thats right. So ....
