Handle on it. 14 acres burned. No one was hurt but it was unnerving. An earlier fire put out huge plumes of thick smoke next to i80 in rodeo, not far from the philips 66 refinery. Theres a closer look at the fire burning close to the freeway. Over 100 acres burned, no structures threatened, including the refinery. More than 100 firefighters worked on that fire. Planes and helicopters dropped retardant on it, making quick work of the flames there. A lot of people told us theyve never seen a fire burning so close to where they live. We saw the black, then the traffic, then we go, were out of here. We started coming this way. Started looking, watching. Sort of interesting. We actually run a machine shop that provides parts for the refineries. What we saw it was up here we thought we better come see. If its something that hits the refinery, we could get calls.
