CANTON The annual Stark County Home & Garden Show usually is a sign of spring, but this year it could be a sign that life is returning to normal after a year of pandemic precautions. The three-day event opened at noon Friday in the main building at the Stark County Fairgrounds. In the first two hours, more that 200 people had visited, said Joe Race, executive officer of the Building Industry Alliance of Stark & East Center Ohio. It s nice to see people get out and about, and getting back to a sense of normalcy, Race said. The show continues Saturday and Sunday. More than 40 local businesses have booths and displays featuring their services and products. ....
PARIS TWP. Dutchcraft Truss & Metal is expanding because of a greater demand for trusses in the home construction industry. Company owner Reggie Stoltzfus is adding a 9,449-square-foot addition to the business. For Stoltzfus, the expansion is about meeting demand for the product. In another two weeks, we should be complete, he said about the ongoing expansion. It is manufacturing and a little bit of warehouse as well. We hope to be operating in it by April 1. The project involves a freestanding building separate from the existing plant in the 2200 block of Fox Avenue SE. The site is about two and half miles northwest of Minerva. ....
JACKSON TWP. More than 100 children will receive bicycles for Christmas thanks to the efforts of Lumen Nation. Lighting store co-owners Tom Rafferty and Davene LoVaglio decided four years ago to donate bicycles to Toys for Tots. They managed five the first year, 17 in 2018 and 31 last year. They hoped to collect 50 this year but ended up with 103. LoVaglio said the drive started earlier this year, which might be a factor in the increased donations. The store worked with the Stark & East Central Ohio Building Industry Association, as well as customers and others to help Toys for Tots. It was a huge collaboration between clients and friends, LoVaglio said. ....
