Starting May 12, the Huron County Building will open all its doors to members of the public without temperature screenings at the door.
The Huron County Board of Commissioners approved the measure at this week’s meeting stating that instead, employees and the public would have their temperatures checked at the county office they are going to. ....

The Huron County Board of Commissioners has hired a new law firm to act as corporation counsel for the county once Steve Allen leaves the position later this year.
Cohl, Stoker & Toskey P.C., a Lansing-based firm that specializes in municipal corporate law and public sector labor law and represents more than 60 Michigan counties, cities, townships, and other entities, will fill the role starting May 1.
Allen is currently under contract with the county until June 30, so the two months will act as a transition period so he can finish up any work he has left with the county. ....

The Huron County building currently no longer has a staff member monitoring employees and visitors for COVID-19 when they enter the building.
Instead, the device that scans people for their temperatures will be the only thing that greets people when they go through the south entrance of the building.
Jodi Essenmacher, the executive assistant for the Huron County Board of Commissioners, said the plan the county had that required it to have someone at the entrance expired last week, with the possibility the commissioners could discuss bringing them back at a future meeting. ....
