Swindon and Wiltshire Pride is celebrating the popular return of its pop-up shop in the Brunel Centre. The LGBTQ+ charity first opened its doors at the end of October before then having to close during the second Lockdown. Since reopening, the shop - complete with a giant rainbow window display - has had over 1700 visitors. Phoenix Stewart, Community Engagement Manager said: “We wanted the rainbow window to be the first thing visitors to the Brunel Shopping Centre saw, a proud visible sign and a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community.” The shop provided free sanitary products and condoms, as well as sexual health information and signposted to local support groups. In addition, the charity sold a range of merchandise, many items featuring the familiar Pride rainbow colours. ....
More than 1,700 shoppers visited the Swindon and Wiltshire Pride shop at the Brunel during December. The shop originally reopened at the town centre shopping centre on October 31 but had to close during November due to the national lockdown. During its operation, the shop provided free sanitary products and condoms, as well as sexual health information and local support groups. It also sold Pride merchandise that will help fund the Swindon and Wiltshire Pride event next summer.
