Higher Education Department signs MoUs for up-skilling of J&K Youth
JAMMU: The Department of Higher Education signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) for up-skilling of students enrolled at the Cluster Universities of Srinagar and Jammu at SPMR College Jammu.
The MoU is part of the department’s initiative of up skilling the undergraduates across J&K by embedding skill courses in the curriculum or offering them as Certificate, Diploma, Advanced Diploma and Degrees while they graduate from the institutions of higher learning, a statement said adding many sectors like agriculture, horticulture, fashion technology, paramedical, pharmacy, nursing and food technology had been identified in this regard. ....

JAMMU, Jan 19: In yet another major initiative, the Department of Higher Education has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) for up-skilling of students.
Commissioner Secretary, Higher Education Department Talat Parvez, while highlighting the significance of the MoU, informed that the department has taken various initiatives to ensure that the workforce of tomorrow has future ready skills, adding “the youth need to be motivated to develop a quality of self development and self entrepreneurship”. ....

KU organises book release function

Experts for development, promotion of children’s literature in mother-tongue
Srinagar: The University of Kashmir on Thursday organised a book-release function in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages.
Two books titled ‘Achre Moth’ a collection of critical essays and ‘Jiger Khante’ a collection of rhymes and poems for children were released on the occasion. Both are authored by noted Kashmiri writer, Mr Showket Ansari.
Renowned Kashmiri scholar and writer Prof Shafi Shauq was the chief guest on the occasion, while Prof Gulshan Majeed presided over the function, organised by the varsity’s Department of Kashmiri.
Underscoring the importance of developing genuine children’s literature in their mother-tongue, Prof Shauq said it was one of the important ways to promote the language and help youngsters to stay rooted to their culture. ....
