Ready or not, here it comes. The region is preparing for the first major snowfall of the year on Wednesday. LOWER POTTSGROVE — At one point Saturday when the line of cars stretched out the driveway of the SunnyBrook Ballroom, when superheroes were scrambling to load the presents into open trunks, when the carolers were singing and the snow machine was blowing, Karen Reed spoke reassuringly on the phone to a fellow volunteer.
“Breathe,” she said. “Just breathe. We can do this.”
And they did. By the end of the day, the Pottstown Area Children’s Foundation had provided presents and more for 609 children in need, representing 252 families.

Just a month or two ago, the outlook wasn’t so positive. Every year for the past 37 years, Jim Frymoyer has held a holiday party for children in need and their families. Over time, it grew, Last year hundreds of people streamed into the indoor ballroom for the festivities. ....
