Some items donated to Goodwill Northern New England’s Auburn store are bound for the trash: aerosol cans, a bunny with a smashed face, a broken laundry basket and a used, zebra-print thong. The nonprofit is asking people to check the list of welcome donations before they give after a spike in its trash bill last year regionwide.

The city of Granite Shoals is staying in line with Gov. Greg Abbott’s move rescinding the statewide face covering requirement for businesses, but officials are keeping it in effect for city spaces.
During City Council’s meeting, Tuesday, March 9, councilors and staff discussed Abbott’s decision to curtail the face covering order and allowing businesses to operate at 100 percent capacity. The change went into effect Wednesday, March 10. ....

Shirley devoted to keeping Wellington's ambulance service free

“I wish to pay tribute today to three remarkable Wellingtonians who passed away in the past few days. Shirley Martin, Neil Gray, and my mother, Inge Woolf, were inspirational wonderful Wellingtonians.”
All three, were “wise, warm and wonderful people” who generously supported the community, Woolf said.
Wellington Free Ambulance acting chief executive Sarah Lewis said Martin had made a significant contribution to the organisation.
“From her devotion to fundraising as part of the Ladies Auxiliary since 1955, standing on the streets of Wellington rattling a box for the free ambulance, and all the years she cheered us on as our patron, Shirley has been a fundraising force for us for over six decades.” ....
