JCGC is a unique burial organization and a national model, performing burials for all denominations and overseeing 23 diverse Jewish cemeteries in our area. The oldest of them, Chestnut Street Cemetery, turned 200 years old last year. Jewish Cemeteries of Greater Cincinnati announces new Executive Director, Susan Susskind

Jewish Cemeteries of Greater Cincinnati has selected Susan Susskind as the organization’s new Executive Director. Ms. Susskind’s responsibilities include all aspects of daily operations, financial oversight, staffing, planning, board coordination and public communication for Jewish Cemeteries, which administers 25 local Jewish cemeteries. Historic Jewish Hospital Plaques Now Preserved for All to See

Jewish Hospital of Cincinnati was the very first hospital established by and especially for Jews in America. This is a distinction not many Cincinnatians know about our Jewish community. The founding year was 1850 and people were dying in a cholera epidemic. Jews and Jewish doctors were often not welcomed in other hospitals. Kosher food was unobtainable in them, and it was common for Jews to be pressured to take Christian conversion on their deathbeds.  ....
