PEORIA As someone uncomfortable with self-promotion, artist Jessica McGhee has mixed feelings about her recent success on TikTok. A 60-second video about the colorful jewelry she makes from garbage went viral a few weeks ago. It’s now been viewed 2 million times. “I hate selling when you are making art that feels kind of gross, but I also can’t live off giving myself away, so I had to get super comfortable with the idea of selling, said McGhee. “Jewelry sales are my primary source of income. I do the Riverfront Market, and I have a website, but it has historically just kind of sat there. I do occasionally promote the website, but I haven’t been consistent about it. ....
