LAUREL, Del. – Earlier this week, Layla and Jessica Gainer, founders of Project Sparkle On, came together with the Laurel community to throw a special holiday parade for a woman known by many as Ms. Kay.
Ms. Kay is an 83-year-old currently battling bone cancer. Before she was diagnosed, she worked at a Rite Aid in the area for 31 years, making meaningful relationships along the way. The Laurel and Sharptown Fire Departments, the Laurel Police Department, Mr. and Mrs. Claus, and the Rite Aid staff participated in the parade, showering Ms. Kay with gifts.
Ms. Kay’s daughter said her mom cried all the way home, as she was so touched by the gesture.
