PSEG executives argued the plants are in worse fiscal shape than they were in 2018 when a divided Board of Public Utilities voted to award the initial subsidies to avert their closing. ....

PLAINSBORO, NJ (February 2, 2021)   A newly formed coalition of New Jersey business groups committed to bipartisan immigration reform has weighed in on aspects of the Biden administration’s immigration reform legislative package. Although the content of “The Citizenship Act of 2021” is currently available only in summary form (the full text of the bill is expected to be published in a matter of days), the Coalition, in a

Feb 11, 2020: The first hearing of the Workgroup on Harassment, Sexual Assault and Misogyny in New Jersey Politics
New Jersey’s political parties and campaigns should adopt anti-harassment policies and the state’s election watchdog should get the power to investigate allegations of sexual assault and harassment in political campaigns, parties and lobbying, a committee investigating the state’s toxic political climate recommended.
The ad hoc Workgroup on Harassment, Sexual Assault and Misogyny in New Jersey Politics was created a year ago in the wake of allegations of assault and misogyny against then-candidate Phil Murphy’s gubernatorial campaign and a news report on the political culture in the state. Its 76-page report, released Thursday, followed several public hearings and discussions. ....

NJ avoids 'sticker shock' for businesses in unemployment tax hike

Employers in New Jersey have a longer time to prepare to deal with the draining impact of the pandemic on the state s Unemployment Trust Fund under legislation signed by Gov. Phil Murphy.
The governor s action on Monday reduces the amount of an employer’s unemployment taxes through Fiscal Year 2023.
“A similar phase-in payroll tax measure was utilized after the financial crisis of 2007-2009,” according to New Jersey State Chamber of Commerce Executive Vice President of Government Relations Michael Egenton.
The measure also prevents a rate increase for employers who had to layoff workers during the pandemic through no fault of their own. ....
