AG Tong Resolves Data Breach Investigation Of Sabre Hospitality

Attorney General Tong, along with the attorneys general of 27 states, has entered into a settlement with Sabre Corp. that resolves an investigation into the 2017 data breach of Sabre Hospitality Solutions hotel booking system. The breach exposed the data of approximately 1.3 million credit cards. The settlement requires a payment of $2.4 million, of which the State of Connecticut will receive $174,724.78 and injunctive relief.

Sabre Hospitality Solutions, a business segment of Sabre, operates the SynXis Central Reservation system, which facilitates the booking of hotel reservations. SynXis connects business travel coordinators, travel agencies, and online travel booking companies on one end to Sabre s hotel customers on the other. AG Announces $2M Multistate Settlement Over CafePress Data Breach

Attorney General William Tong today announced that a coalition of seven states has reached a $2 million settlement with CafePress, Inc. stemming from a 2019 data breach of its user database that compromised the personal information of approximately 22 million consumers, including more than 236,000 Connecticut residents. CafePress is an online retailer of personalized items and apparel. The breach compromised consumer names, email addresses, passwords, physical addresses, phone numbers, and, in some cases, credit card information as well as full, unencrypted Social Security or tax identification numbers.

Pursuant to the settlement, CafePress has agreed to pay $2,000,000 to the states. The settlement includes an immediate payment of $750,000 to be divided amongst the states, of which Connecticut will receive $64,168.71.
