Last night, the Sheriffs Office received a call about a man shouting and waiving a gun around at the Windwood Oaks apartments. When deputies arrived, they tried to talk to the man through the cruiser speakers but when he still would not put the gun down and approached them, he ended up being shot several times. We had a subject with a gun and they were in fear of their safety and the safety of others. In fact, they were concerned that he may go into another apartment and take hostages. But his direction of threats was at our personnel, and like i said, he pointed the gun at them and advanced in their direction at which time they felt they had no other choice. We just spoke with deputies on the scene not too long ago, and they say everything started when someone living here called 911 abouta man outside frantically waving around a semi automatic handgun. Things didnt get any better they say they tried to get the man to put the gun down, but he kept waving it around thats when he got really aggressive.
