For the warm welcome and the honor of being here today to present the state of the state. It was not too long ago that i stood here and laid out a bold plan for the future of missouri. Back then, many were worried about the direction of our state. Some of you were probably worried about how your new governor would lead and address the problems within missouri. But because i love this state and the people of this state, i knew i was ready for that challenge. And with your help, ready to chart a new path for missouri. A path that would push us to the fo forefront of the nation, providing more opportunities for our citizens and make missouri a destination for others around the country, ready to embrace our showme way of life. I also want to thank the many of you in this room and the thousands around the state who had confidence in me, supported my vision, and offered me patience at a trying time for missouri. Members of the judiciary to my cabinet and my wonderful family. Thank you for being here tonight. And my fellow Rhode Islanders. Tonight i stand with all of you filled with optimism for our future. We work hard together digging our way out of the deep economic hole. And now we are prepared for Rhode Islanders for success in a fast changing economy. Right now in rhode island. We have more than half a million jobs in our state. Thats more jobs than we ever have in our states history. [ applause ] our unemployment is the lowest it has been in three decades now i want you to think about that. That means that our economy is as strong today as it has been in a generation. Whats going on . We know it has not always been that way. Actually just a few years ago, it was not that way. Whats different . W
Our next speaker will be speaking on the battle of Wilsons Creek. That is kristen pawlak. In 2014 she graduated from Gettysburg College with a bachelor of arts degrees in civil war studies. She has worked for the misery Civil War Museum in st. Louis, the American Battlefield trust, and the Gettysburg College special collections. She currently serves on the board of directors for the marine scholarship foundation. She is working on her first book in the emerging civil war series on the battle of wills and creek.
