Man accused of attempted murder in North Portland shooting

Vancouver police Saturday night arrested a 35-year-old man in connection with a shooting that left a man wounded in Portland’s St. Johns neighborhood that morning.
Jaron Mulkey is accused of attempted murder, first-degree assault and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
He’s accused of shooting and wounding a man about 8:45 a.m. Saturday in the 10500 block of North Midway Avenue.
The man shot was taken to a local hospital for treatment and is expected to survive his injuries, police said.
Portland police said they identified a vehicle tied to the North Portland shooting and spotted it about 5:15 p.m. Saturday. North Precinct officers followed it northbound on Interstate 5 into Washington state. Vancouver police stopped the car along Northeast 78th Street in Hazel Dell.

Vancouver police arrested a man Saturday evening in connection with a shooting earlier in the day in Portland’s St. Johns Neighborhood, according to the Portland Police Bureau.
A statement from the police bureau said Jaron Mulkey, 35, was arrested on an arrest warrant charging him with attempted murder, assault in the first degree and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Portland police had located Mulkey’s vehicle as it drove north on Interstate 5 into Washington at about 5:15 p.m. Saturday. Vancouver police were brought in to assist and stopped his vehicle on northbound Interstate 5 just south of the 78th Street interchange.
