Man accused of attempted murder in North Portland shooting

Vancouver police Saturday night arrested a 35-year-old man in connection with a shooting that left a man wounded in Portland’s St. Johns neighborhood that morning.
Jaron Mulkey is accused of attempted murder, first-degree assault and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
He’s accused of shooting and wounding a man about 8:45 a.m. Saturday in the 10500 block of North Midway Avenue.
The man shot was taken to a local hospital for treatment and is expected to survive his injuries, police said.
Portland police said they identified a vehicle tied to the North Portland shooting and spotted it about 5:15 p.m. Saturday. North Precinct officers followed it northbound on Interstate 5 into Washington state. Vancouver police stopped the car along Northeast 78th Street in Hazel Dell.
One dead, two wounded in overnight shootings
One man was killed and two people hospitalized in two overnight shootings.
The names of the victims were not immediately released and no suspect information was available, either.
The most recent investigation began at 12:19 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, when North Precinct officers were dispatched to a report of a person shot near Northeast Failing Street and 141st Drive. When officers arrived, they located a victim, an adult male, with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a hospital and is being treated for injuries that are believed to be non-life threatening.
The suspect left the scene before police were called.
