Tallahassee, Fla. – The Florida State swimming and diving teams placed 30 student-athletes on the 2023 All-ACC Academic teams. The men’s team produced a league-leading 15 selections, which tied NC State. “We are so proud of our student-athletes that were recognized,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “Florida State is one of the best public schools in the nation and we take pride in holding ourselves to a high academic standard. These 30 Seminoles have represented FSU at the highest level both in our sport and academically and we’re thrilled they’re being recognized for their hard work.” Tazman Abramowicz, Arijus Pavlidi, Nick Mason, Jesco Helling, Izzy Gregersen, Jenny Halden, Maddie McDonald and Anna Metzler also earned CSC (College Sports Communicatiors) Academic All-District Honors for NCAA Division I Swimming and Diving prior to the end of the 2022-23 season. NCAA Championship Site Knoxville, Tenn. – The Florida State women’s swimming and diving team had four student-athletes competing on Friday at the 2023 NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center. Anna Metzler closed out her career by finishing 19th in the 400 IM, improving her seed from 28th, touching at 4:10.35, which was just off her season best of 4:10.18. Edith Jernstedt finished third in the heat two of the 100 fly, touching at 52.73 for 38th overall. The swim was just off her season best (52.54). Jernstedt will compete in her specialty, the 200 fly on Saturday. Maddy Huggins swam her personal best in the 100 breast at 1:00.25, touching second in heat two for 38th overall. NCAA Championship Site Knoxville, Tenn. – Florida State diver Samantha Vear earned an All-America honorable mention in the women’s 1-meter diving event at the 2023 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships on Thursday at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center. Vear finished in 10th place, becoming the seventh diver in school history to score at NCAAs on 1-meter and first since Ayla Bonniwell in 2017. It was the highest finish in the event since Katrina Young placed eighth in 2015. “I am so incredibly proud of Sammy,” FSU head coach John Proctor said. “She’s a junior and this is her first postseason and to do what she’s done is just unbelievable. This is her first real pop at this and she really stepped up big today.” At the halfway mark in prelims, Vear sat in 15th place, just under seven points out of eighth place. Results Knoxville, Tenn. – Florida State divers Samantha Vear and Tazman Abramowicz punched their tickets to the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships on Monday at the Zone B Diving Championships at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center. Vear placed seventh in the women’s 1-meter competition, while Abramowicz finished eighth in the men’s 3-meter event. Vear advances to her first NCAAs and will join teammates Julia Mansson, Edith Jernstedt, Maddy Huggins, Anna Metzler along with the 200 medley relay next week back in Knoxville. Abramowicz qualified for the fifth time in his career and is the first Seminole to earn a spot in the men’s meet, which will take place March 22-25 in Minneapolis, Minn. “It was a great day today,” FSU head diving coach John Proctor said. “Sammy loves to compete.
