41st annual Sinks Canyon photo contest winners announced

(Lander, WY) – Eleven photographers won ribbons in the 41st annual Sinks Canyon State Park photo contest. Photographers from Wyoming, Colorado, and Wisconsin were represented in this year’s judging.
The photo of a rufous hummingbird taken by Lander-resident Nancy Alley won Best of Show. The photo is titled “It’s Hummer Time!”

This year’s contest featured a new set of rules, according to a press release. In previous years, photographers entered their photographs into categories for first, second, and third place. This year, the Sinks Canyon Natural Resource Council chose to give ribbons to a best of show and a “top ten” regardless of the subject. Each photographer could only be awarded two ribbons. Sixteen honorable mention ribbons were also given. ....

Yiana Pandelis shows star quality in challenging feature film "Unsound"

Yiana Pandelis, a young Australian Greek actress who is profoundly deaf is the leading actress in the recently released Australian independent film “Unsound” and she confounds many stereotypes in this challenging role.
“Unsound “, a film by Wise Goat Productions, challenges a host of preconceptions. In it Ms Pandelis plays Finn, a deaf young emerging trans man who is an Auslan -only speaker. Finn runs a night club for the deaf with his father (Todd McKenney). The story focusses on the relationship between Ms Pandelis’ character Finn and disillusioned musician Noah (Reece Noi who appeared in “Game of Thrones”).
To be the lead actress in any feature-length film is a big responsibility but “Unsound” also challenges conceptions of gender-identity, sexuality and disability. The demands of the role were a challenge that Ms Pandelis proved more than capable of meeting. ....
