The lightning complex fires are around 656 square miles this morning and that is about 14 times the size of francisco. Road. Theres an Evacuation Order for the Paradise Valley neighborhood on the east side of 80. We have our j. R. Stone on the phone with us right now. J. R. , where are you and what are you seeing . Reporter well, i am in the Rolling Hills neighborhood right now, and it is a neighborhood that has been evacuated. Im going to get back into up. From where i am, and i know youll be able to see some of my video of what it looked like when i came in on i80, you could actually see smoke from some of the hilltops and see flames near the area near travis boulevard. That is the video that youll be able to see on the screen in one moment. Thats a very busy section of fairfield. But where i am now is in that Rolling Hills neighborhood. Im looking at normal homes on the block. Then you look above at the hilltop and im seeing that hilltop right now and it is charred black and there are small flames with a lot of smoke. Coming into this section, there was this long line of cars just trying to get out
We have new video coming in from the fires burning in the Santa Cruz Mountains. More than 20,000 people have been evacuated in that area. This is affecting a lot of peoples lives and you can see this video ththres cr homes. It has burned 25,000 acres so far in the hills of santa cruz and San Mateo County and at least 20 buildings. We saw a lion of a dozen fire trucks going to that area but cal fire is having trouble responding to all of these fires, as we have been talking about. They are spread very thinly, two First Responders have been injured in this firefight. Thsh d at structure you saw burning was a long empire great road. All of these are under evacuation orders. For the people in San Mateo County, this is the same big complex for them. Tey can go to Half Moon Bay high school. Nothing to be scared about. They are coming down the coast from north to south making the right hand turn into some of our coastal valleys and across the goate ord pusodd thats closn wi coast. Were up to ten degrees cooler this morning, how about mid50s to mid60s in most neighborhoods. Our extremes, 52 in novato to 75 in brentwood. Here is a look from sutro tower and you can see some of the smoke hanging out there. Today will be hot, but it wont be excessively hot from the 80s and 90s to even 60s and recei70 along the coast.
